Cet accident risque de porter un gros coup à la réputation de cette technologie. Cependant, ce n’est pas un accident qui va tout remettre en question. Il pourrait refroidir les ardeurs d’Uber, mais il ne prouve pas que les voitures autonomes sont dangereuses.<br/>
Aujourd’hui, sur un plan commercial, on trouve des systèmes de niveau 2, une aide à la conduite, le niveau 3 arrive [le conducteur délègue la conduite dans des situations pré-définies]. « Tous les systèmes à ce jour nécessitent de garder les mains sur le volant », explique l’expert des technologies automobiles pour qui le risque zéro n’existe pas. « Il s’agirait d’un constructeur automobile, ça aurait été différent, mais on parle d’une société de la Silicon Valley qui n’a pas vraiment de légitimité sur le marché de la voiture autonome, elle a juste débauché des ingénieurs qu’elle paye très cher ».
